About this collection

This collection includes material pertaining to the lives of Dr. George Henry Alexander Clowes and his wife Edith Whitehill Hinkel Clowes. Following the development of insulin, Dr. Clowes was responsible for the mass production of the medicine. By the time of his retirement, he was credited with helping to develop several other medicines. The Clowes family contributed to many philanthropic endeavors in the community.
