About this collection

Lawrence Judson Foster (1890-1961) photographed many events around Indianapolis. Our collection of images starts in the late 1930s and goes up to 1960. These images tell the stories of life in Indianapolis during World War II and through the 1950s with everything from visiting entertainers to bond sales drives to political campaigns. For the most part, the events or subjects are identified and dates are provided.
