Walter Nathaniel Carpenter (1865-1937) was a Federal District Court Reporter and amateur photographer who documented life in Indianapolis from the 1890s-1930s. He captured many of the significant buildings, places, and events that shaped Indianapolis at that time. He also took many family photos at home in Woodruff Place and on vacations around Indiana and other states.
