Description	Series I, Microfilm Reel 29 of The Papers of Lew and Susan Wallace contains professional and personal correspondence, speeches, interviews, and other papers dating from March 23, 1899 - June 29, 1901. Lew Wallace continued negotiations and contracts with his publishers Harper & Brothers and the theatrical production company Klaw & Erlanger, surrounding the dramatization of Ben-Hur. Ben-Hur stage play opened at Broadway Theater in New York City on November 29, 1899. Wallace gave several interviews about the play following its opening, and Klaw & Erlanger sent daily telegrams reporting ticket sales figures. Lew Wallace continued to weigh in on political matters, giving speeches and interviews about the annexation of the Philippines and Puerto Rico following the Spanish-American War. Susan Wallace continued to publish essays and stories in magazines, including The Ladies Home Journal. Notable correspondents in this reel include Russell A.
