Description |
Lives on the WWII homefront changed rapidly in part because of the absence and sometimes death of husbands, fathers, sons, daughters. Reorganization of daily life was necessary to win the war. Florence (Gambill) Ritchey was born in Sullivan County. During WWII, she worked for the Greene County Red Cross and writing letters for military families was one of her jobs. Ritchey wrote this letter on behalf of a family who needed their son released from service. |
