Description |
In 1876, gas was struck in Eaton, Indiana. People did not yet know the potential of natural gas and the hole was capped. A decade later, gas boomed in Findlay, Ohio. One investor from the Eaton strike, George Carter, recognized the smell in Findlay and decided to revisit their capped hole. Gas began its boom in East Central Indiana. First in Portland, striking gas in March 1886 and in September, Eaton hit a strong flow. |
