Description |
Edward L. Jackson (1873-1954) was a lawyer and politician in Henry County and in Lafayette. As governor he signed the Wright Bone Dry Law, one of the strictest prohibition laws in the country. He created 11 more state parks, eliminated the state’s debt, and cut taxes. His association with the Ku Klux Klan led to his disgrace. Born in Howard County, he eventually retired to raise cattle in Orange County where he is buried. |
