Atlas map of Owen County, 1876. Owen County was created by the State Legislature on January 1, 1819. Commonly called “Sweet Owen”, the county is named for Abraham Owen, a member of the Kentucky Militia, who was killed in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. The county seat is Spencer. |
