Description |
After studying painting and drawing in Munich at the Royal Academy, artists William Forsyth and J. Ottis Adams returned to Indiana in the late 1880s to open art studios and teach classes. Adams and Forsyth opened the Muncie Art School in 1889. This photograph of an art studio, which belonged to Forsyth, may have been taken in the Muncie studio. Adams and Forsyth later became associated with fellow artists T.C. Steele, Otto Stark, and Richard B. Gruelle, known as the "Hoosier Group." |
