The Confederate army acquired the ship in 1861 and they used it around Columbus, Kentucky, and Island 10. The Union found the ship with the capture of Island 10 and eventually converted it into a hospital ship complete with an operating room, and medical dispensary. The decks were enclosed for winter weather. In November, 1865, the ship was sold at a public auction. |
