| Description | Born in Virginia in 1773, Harrison was living in Ohio when he was appointed governor of the Indiana Territory and moved to its capital of Vincennes. He negotiated and signed many treaties to obtain Native American lands. Later he was victorious in the Battle of Tippecanoe, a commander in the War of 1812, served in Congress, and was elected president in 1840. He died in 1841 after only one month in office and was buried in Ohio. |
