Building the Citizens Market in three dimensions and populating it with the people from the photograph helps us bring history to life. The magic is stepping through the image into the past. We project the image onto a "fog screen, " or ionized vapor mist, in the entryway to the space. Memory itself can be foggy, but with research we can make the past real and sharpen our understanding of how it shapes the present.
