Notable ForMordecai Brown played baseball for 14 years in the major leagues, including pitching several seasons for the Chicago Cubs. He was a right handed pitcher, throwing a natural sinker and curve ball. In 1949 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. His nickname had to do with the loss of one finger and the paralysis of another finger in 2 different farm accidents as a child. After retiring from baseball Brown opened a filling station in Terre Haute.
