Notable ForJulia Graydon Sharpe was born into a wealthy family in Indianapolis. At first she painted as a hobby, then in her mid-thirties she decided to study painting seriously. She attended art schools and studied under other Hoosier artists such as William Forsyth, J. Otis Adams, and J. Will Vawter. Her watercolor paintings were displayed across the state and at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, St. Louis, 1904; the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, San Francisco, 1915; and the MacDowell Club of New York, 1917. Her paintings are in several art museums in Indiana.
