Notable ForHaynes is responsible for the first commercially built gasoline-powered automobile in Indiana. It was built in 1894 while he was manager of the Indiana Natural Gas and Oil Company. He also discovered stellite in 1906, and stainless steel in 1911.
DescriptionHaynes is standing with a 1904 Haynes Pioneer automobile. A stone marker commemorates the automobile.
