Notable ForAnderson native Carl Erskine pitched ten years for the Brooklyn Dodgers and two years for the Los Angeles Dodgers after the team moved west. He had 122 wins and 78 losses, and pitched two no-hitters. He played in five different World Series. Erskine retired from baseball in 1960 and returned to Anderson, Indiana, where he began a successful career as an agent for Midwestern United Life Insurance Co. and president of STAR Financial Bank of Indianapolis.
