Ball, Muncie, Ind. capitalist and glass jar manufacturer, gives reporters details of the sale of Mid-American Corp. Railroad Securities. A month ago he transferred controlling stock of the corporation, top holding company of the Van Sweringen interests, to the George and Francis Ball Foundation. Today's announcement of sale was on behalf of that philanthropic institution. The buyers were Robert R. Young and Frank P. Kolbe, New York investment bankers, Allan P. Kirby, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., a son of the founders of the Woolworth chain. |
