	George Ade Title Ade Name George Ade Birth/Death Dates 1866-1944 Where in Indiana Newton County--Kentland and Brook; Tippecanoe--Lafayette When in Indiana Most of his life Notable For George Ade was a humorist, author, playwright, and newspaper columnist. After graduating from Purdue in 1887 he worked as a journalist in Lafayette before taking a job at the Chicago Daily News. His daily column was titled: Stories of the Streets and of the Town. In the early 1900s he became the first author to have 3 plays running on Broadway at the same time. He is best known for his book Fables in Slang. Description Ade is shown wearing a light colored three piece suit with a dark tie. The image is autographed: To "Brother" Steve Home again—one of the boys from the old home town. George Ade.
