	Eddie Rickenbacker Name Eddie Rickenbacker Birth/Death Dates 1890-1973 Where in Indiana Marion County--Indianapolis When in Indiana 1911-1945 Notable For Rickenbacker was a relief driver in the first Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. He drove at the Speedway between 1911 and 1916, then later owned the racetrack from 1927-1945. He was also an air pilot in World War I. Description Rickenbacker is wearing a dark suit and tie. He bought the track from Carl Fisher in 1927 and owned it until 1945, keeping it viable through the Depression years.
