	Anthony Wayne Name Anthony Wayne Birth/Death Dates 1745-1796 Where in Indiana Indiana Territory When in Indiana 1790s Notable For In 1794 when negotiations with the Indians over land failed, Wayne was authorized to fight them. In August his men defeated the Indians at the Battle of Fallen Timbers in Ohio. In September he established an American fort at the head of the Maumee River in northeast Indiana. It was named after him, Fort Wayne. Description General Wayne is wearing a military uniform with epaulettes on the shoulders of the jacket. His shirt has a high collar and ruffle in the front.
