	Thomas Marshall Name Thomas Marshall Birth/Death Dates 1854-1925 Where in Indiana Wabash County--North Manchester; Whitley County--Columbia City; Marion County--Indianapolis When in Indiana 1854-1913; 1921-1925 Notable For Marshall served one term as Governor, 1909-1913. While in office he tried to create a more modern state consitution. He was elected Vice-President of the United States in 1913, serving with President Woodrow Wilson. Marshall is known for having said, "What this country needs is a really good five cent cigar." He wrote his autobiography Recollections: A Hoosier Salad, published in 1925.
