Notable ForFrank McKinney (Kin) Hubbard created the comic strip character Abe Martin which first appeared in the Indianapolis News on December 17, 1904. The comic's setting was the fictitious town of Bloom Center in Brown County, Indiana. Hubbard created more characters and the comic strip was eventually syndicated as was his news column "Short Furrows." Books of Abe Martin sayings were published.
