Notable ForGeorge McGinnis grew up in Indianapolis and attended George Washington High School where he excelled in basketball. He was Indiana's Mr. Basketball in 1969. He attended Indiana University but left to begin a career in professional basketball. He was ABA Rookie of the Year in 1972. In 1975 he won the ABA's scoring title and shared the league's MVP honors with Julius Erving. He played on five All-Star teams and was on two ABA championship teams and an NBA runner-up team. McGinnis enjoyed a twelve-year professional career before retiring from basketball. He is a businessman, television commentator, community leader, and philanthropist.
