Floyd
Hopper's
studies
at
Herron
began
when
the
building
was
brand
new
and had
approximately
100
students
,
most
from
Indianapolis.
At
first
he
signed
up
for
commercial
art
, but
later
switched
to
fine
arts.
Between
studies
he
waited
tables
at the
Colonial
Tea
Room
at
14th
and
Pennsylvania
Streets.
He
earned
$15/week
in
tips
and
received
free
meals.
Hazel
Whiteleather
was a
regular
dinner
customer
there and in
1936
they
married.
