DescriptionThis map illustrates the fourteen-year-old state during the time of the founding of the Indiana Historical Society. Two-thirds of the state had been settled, and negotiations continued between Native Americans and newcomers in the northern region. Watercolors outline the borders of the counties. County seats and other towns are noted. Indiana boundaries are shown along with township and range lines.
