DescriptionLives of Hoosiers on farms and in small towns during the war years were affected significantly. Pressure was on farmers to feed the nation as well as the armed forces and Allies. Munitions factories worked around the clock. Women kept families together as they worked their farms or in war plants while husbands were away. Nearly all high school boys who graduated in 1943 enlisted in the armed forces, some even before graduation.
